Red Brick Counselling
a space to explore, reflect, and grow.
... in a few words or less!
Hi, I’m Andrea 👋🏼 — a Registered Clinical Counsellor nestled in the beautiful Kootenay mountain town of Nelson, BC.
My path to counselling wasn’t exactly a straight line. After spending five years working in education in Ontario, I found myself increasingly drawn to the world of mental health and the ways we can support people through the challenges, transitions, and experiences that shape our lives. That curiosity eventually became a passion — and a new career path.
Since then, I’ve completed my Master’s in Counselling and am now a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BCACC. I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals, families, and couples across both public and private settings, supporting people through things like stress and anxiety, life transitions, neurodiversity, workplace burnout, grief, and relationship challenges.
For me, counselling is about creating a space where you can feel safe, heard, understood, and supported — without judgment and having to have everything figured out before you walk through the door.
That’s at the heart of why I created Red Brick Counselling: to offer a warm, positive, and supportive space for people as they navigate whatever life has placed in front of them. A space to explore, reflect, and grow.
I’m looking forward to sharing a little more about counselling, mental health, relationships, and the things that make us human along the way.
“Through counselling, you'll learn the tools and strategies to transform your mental well-being and relationships brick by brick.”
What I can do for you
(part 1)
Individual Counselling
Asking for help can be challenging — plain and simple.
Maybe you’ve been carrying something for a while, feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply unsure of what comes next. Whatever brings you here, you’ve come to the right place.
Taking care of your mental health and well-being is an essential part of taking care of you. Counselling can offer a space to slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and explore what you need — with someone in your corner along the way.
Together, we can work through internal and external challenges, build practical skills and strategies to bring into your day-to-day life, and follow the curiosity that comes up along the way.
There’s no perfect starting point, and you don’t need to have it all figured out before reaching out.
Sometimes, taking that first step — with a trusted person beside you, cheering you on — is exactly where meaningful change begins.
Using methods such as CBT, SFT, and DFT, counselling is available for those looking for support with but not limited to stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, workplace burnout, neurodiversity, and grief.

Relationship and Couples Counselling
It takes two to tango… or so they say! 💃🏻🕺🏻
But how many of us are actually taught how to dance?
We don’t necessarily learn how to navigate relationships, communicate through conflict, understand our needs, or stay connected when life gets complicated. And yet, relationships are one of the most important parts of our lives.
Like a dance, a healthy relationship takes two (or more!) people, commitment, communication, curiosity, and practice. It’s about learning each other’s rhythms while still finding space to move as individuals.
Relationships are a vital part of our lives, but there’s rarely a clear roadmap for how to build them, maintain them, repair them, and grow within them. We’re often expected to just know how to do it.
Sometimes it can feel like dancing through murky waters — stepping on toes, losing the rhythm, or wondering whether you’re even moving in the same direction.
But with intention, attentiveness, and a willingness to learn, relationships can become something pretty remarkable.
Because maybe the goal isn’t to find someone who already knows all the steps.
Maybe it’s learning how to dance together.
Using Emotional Focused Couples Therapy with the Gottman Method, counselling is available for those looking for support with relationships, partner reconnection, and developing healthy dynamics.
“You can spend a lifetime being curious about the inner world of your partner, and being brave enough to share your own inner world, and never be done discovering all there is to know about each other. It’s exciting.” ― John M. Gottman
